Growing up in the 90s, owning a Game Boy was one of the best things in the world. It even gives a lot of shy kids a foundation for conversation and hopefully, friendship. But now, this nostalgic device just got a massive upgrade.
Introducing, the biggest Game Boy in the world!
Ilhan Ünal, a 21-year-old student from Brussels Belgium created this "monster" game console. It was so huge that just in the recently released Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition 2018, it was deemed the largest functioning Game Boy in the world.
"The Game Boy was a huge part of many people's childhood, including my own," Ünal said in a press release from the Guinness World Records. He designed this gargantuan device for one week and built it for one month. It’s 1.01 meters tall, 0.62 meters wide and 0.2 meters deep.
Not only is it huge, the Game Boy can play all the games released on the original console.
“Playing on a larger Game Boy is much, much harder than on a small Game Boy,” Ünal said in a video from the Guinness World Records. “On the giant Game Boy, it’s like you have to use your whole hands to press a button.” However, the much larger version of graphics in some of the games on the console might look a bit odd due to the giant screen.
"I was obsessed with my Game Boy as a kid, so I wanted to create something that would put a smile on little Ilhan's face, and hopefully on the face of anyone who is a big kid at heart," says Ünal..
Now imagine seeing this gigantic Game Boy during the console's peak. Bet every kid would be dreaming and asking Santa for it.
