This coming June 30, Las Vegas will have its first robot bar called Tipsy Robot. The idea started last January when Robotic Innovations (a company in the strip) trademarked the name Tipsy Robot and started using it for merchandise.
And as the name suggests, the bar promises people to be able to enjoy a variety of cocktails mixed by robots- two large mechanical arms to be exact. These "Galactic Ambassadors" (yep, that's their job title) will create and serve custom cocktails (like pro human bartenders) that Las Vegas Eater says to be only found on Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas cruise liner. The cruise actually has a robotic bar since 2014.
The expert behind their cocktail menu is Francesco Lafranconi of Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits. But the spotlight is on the two robots at the bar with each capable of mixing 120 drinks per hour (that makes about two drinks per minute)! Just choose your order on an iPad and it'll show you the estimated time of its arrival. After that, you can go feast your eyes on the robot arms for the mean time as they precisely make, stir, shake and mix concoctions, and add garnishes to your (other people's) cocktails.
However, if you believe that nothing really beats human interactions and would want some good-looking bartender you can talk to as he/she serves you, they'll still be there to mix your drink on the other side of the bar. (Perhaps a little reassurance as well that robots won't be entirely taking over our jobs?)
So, if you happen to feel like going out at the end of the month, go pay Tipsy Robot a visit! They'll be open 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to midnight on weekends. Vegas, baby!
