We've known water covers all three forms as liquid, solid and gas. Scientists discovered a fourth state of water, a crossover state that puzzled scientists about the nature of water.

Researchers have tried investigating on the physical properties of water in each state it transcends into. They discovered that water if heated between 40 and 60 degrees Celsius or 104 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit, it goes into a 'crossover state'. It goes into a switching phase between two forms of liquid and becomes a 'plasma-like' form. They demonstrated that liquid water gets into this crossover state, exhibiting a new set of properties before transcending into whatever state it switches into.
The researchers examined the different properties of water to arrive at this new discovery. They examined thermal conductivity, refractive index, conductivity, surface tension and the diaelectric constant. Diaelectric constant, as summed up by Nature is "how well an electric field can spread through a substance - and how they responded to fluctuations in temperature between 0 and 100 degrees Celsius. "
Hydrogen bonds link water molecules together. Water has set itself apart from other liquid to have a the most fleeting hydrogen bonds.
The discovery of the crossover state or crossover temperature of water is linked to water's unusual properties in general. It seems like despite water's ability to switch to different states of matter, it still follows sets of rules to attain a certain state despite the molecular jumble.
The researchers said that this new discovery will give more understanding on nano and biological systems.
