Scientists aboard the Pisces V, a submarine, investigated a 13,000 foot extinct volcano at the bottom of the sea in Hawaii. The University of Hawaii researchers spotted a dumbo octopus, Purple Haze (a violet corral) and more rarely seen marine creatures. Seamounts are considered to be hotspots for sea life since they carry water with rich nutrients that rise upward from the marine floor.
